Unhoused & Street Neighbors

Our unhoused population across the world each year has increased due to a lack of affordable housing. As we walk with and alongside each street neighbor, we offer hospitality to those who need assistance with transportation on Marta, we cooperate with our community partners and believe action is part of justice. At Inman Park Church, we value the dignity and whole personhood of our street siblings.

  • Throughout the week, unhoused members drop into the office for assistance. Opportunities for water and coffee are great; other needs persist and have been raised to attention. Those who experience homelessness discuss the challenges of transportation when searching and obtaining a job. We can help by offering assistance through a Marta Card For the month of January, we will focus on raising “Money for Marta” cards. We are asking for donations of $5 to purchase Marta Cards for those street friends in need of transportation.

A donation box will be placed at the back table of the sanctuary for cash or check donations. If you wish to give online, please contact Katie (katie.wax@emory.edu) for details. Thank you for your continued support in making a difference to those who feel unseen.

  • In addition to the beginning of the new year, we can continue serving our street friends. Throughout the holiday season, many unhoused members in our community stopped by for aid. In turn, we are running low on bags that we provide to our street neighbors. A donation bin will be placed in the back of the Sanctuary starting January 15th.

We are asking for various donations:

    • Reusable cloth bags (any size)

    • Pop-top Cans ONLY (Soup or protein)

    • Granola Bars

    • Crackers or Chips

    • Fruit Cup

    • Toilet Paper

    • Hand Wipes/Sanitizer

    • Long tube socks
