On the surface, this is a topic that seems too sad to even contemplate, much less discuss. But such a conversation is happening, right now, and it might eventually impact our own Inman Park UMC community.
We face important and difficult questions, and as a church, we shouldn’t shy away from addressing prayerfully them in a spirit of love.
A group of United Methodist pastors and theologians is calling for an amicable split of the denomination, saying differences over homosexuality and other issues are irreconcilable. The group describes itself as traditionalist and says its ranks include more than 80 members, including pastors of some of the larger United Methodist congregations.
